When It Comes To Learning How To Become Better At Math...

By Trevor Johnson

When it comes to learning how to become better at math, we all want to know. Well there are many people out there that love this subject. Unfortunately for many years, I was not one of them. Until it came to algebra and above, but that is another story all together.

It's not a subject that should be so mysterious to us all. In fact there isn't a key that will suddenly make you understand it all. But instead you can teach yourself how to become better at this subject. You will need to practice and have goals like many other things that you want to improve in life. Remember that math is a thing that can unlock a lot of doors for you.

Math never seemed like a subject that could be made cool or jazzed up enough. It was boring dealing with numbers and sometimes stories. But stop thinking of those old math days in school, think of new ways to learn math.

However, you can actually find some great books that are around the college level of pre-calculus mathematics. These books have been written to make math fun and interesting. The subject isn't set up just to earn you a credit or two for a class, so you can really learn from it.

Looking around for this type of book cannot be done in your college bookstore though. They are going to have the same old text books you've always seen. You need something new, something exciting, and it will make the subject easier to understand.

Head to the library and look up what they have in the pre-calculus section. Normally they will not have textbooks that are boring. If you can't find anything here, go online and ask in a math forum for suggestions on a good pre-calculus text.

Think of math as a series of exercises instead of problems. When you think of a problem, you tend to feel it is more difficult to find an answer. But with an exercise you may free up your mind enough to feel less tense.

In closing, the best thing to do is have that belief that you are good at math. - 30301

Avoid Home Schooling Burnout

By Gail Jones

No matter if you are teaching in a traditional school or in a home schooling program, there will come a time when you will come across burnout. This is something that you have to avoid so that your learning progress is not affected.

Here are a few useful tips that you can make use of in order to avoid an occurrence of home schooling burnout:

Know your limitations. From the very start, you should already know your limitations and your child's limitations. You must be capable of taking things slowly sometimes, especially if your child is still young since you have to bear in mind your child's learning capacity. Most students are average learners, obviously, so you have to take the lessons based on your child's learning pace. Never expect your small child to read complicated reading selections nor your teen to ace SAT exams.

Try not to follow strict schedules, as this could put undue pressure on your child. You should simply set an interesting routine for your child to follow. Children spend most of their time doing routine activities like getting up, eating hearty breakfasts, reading books, practising writing, doing light jobs about the place, etc. You must ensure that they finish their routine activities before they can play outside or with the computer. Even these routine activities change from day to day, but you must make sure that your child follows these routine activities. You can add in occasional incentives or fun activities if they finish their routine tasks earlier.

You should try to enjoy home schooling with your child. This is one method of developing a strong relationship with your child and if you and your child can relate to each other, you will find it very much easier to handle curriculum struggles and motivation problems later on. Besides motivating and guiding your child, you can also follow some of your own hobbies like gardening or cooking. If your child sees you enjoying your own interests, then he or she will also be inclined to do likewise.

Since your child is in a home schooling program, you should not try to imitate a traditional schools environment. Try to use non-conventional ways when teaching your child. Home schooling is also about flexibility and creativity, so if you can create a light-hearted but firm atmosphere, you can more than likely prevent burnout.

Always try to remember that with home schooling, you don't have to structure your teaching methods in the traditional way. You can just do things in a fun way especially with very young children so that they learn naturally. Just ensure you keep the day in the right perspective to prevent burnout. Although your children might forget some of the day's lessons, that's all right too because somehow they grow in intelligence as well as in physique.

Your children will always think back on your home schooling days together and remember with fondness how well you treated them. The old song goes: "... there's no place like home" and for little pupils, home is the best place to learn the first lessons of life. If your teenagers are already in high school or college, they can still pursue home schooling if they so desire. That would also a good idea since you would get a chance to watch your offsprings' development.

Parents always try to look after their children's best interests, so, if after careful thought, you still think that home schooling is the best option for your family, then run with it. Just follow the tips mentioned above to prevent burnout. Make time for enjoyable activities from time to time in order to prevent monotony. - 30301

School And Education? Who Needs Them?

By Matthew Smith

Do you know why an education is important? We deal with this issue quite a bit on our math comic strips web site. In this article we are going to point out some reasons why you should get a good education.

Many might not know this, but a good education equips us with power. Graduating from the various steps in the school ladder (i.e.: elementary school, middle school, high school, college and university, etc. gives you power and flexibility over your future life. It's true that some jobs provide "on the job" training, but these positions are becoming fewer and fewer as we embrace a world of globalization. Keep in mind that many employers won't even consider you if you don't have the minimum educational requirements.

Resourceful human beings are people who have a good grasp of knowledge and education. None of us know everything about everything, but a well-rounded education equips us with a background that we will be able to employ in any situation that we find ourselves in. Let's illustrate this point with a little example. Suppose you know how to tell time. You acquired this knowledge and education at some point, and have been successfully able to tell time on your own personal watch. Let's suppose you left your watch at home. What do you do now? Well, this education helps you to be resourceful, and you will be able to tell time on any watch or clock that you find around you at the time. This is a very basic example, but you get the point...

A well-rounded education also provides you with a greater quality of life. When the economy starts to turn sour, many people get laid off. It's often those who lack in education or skills who get laid off first. Worse still, since they have less education, they will have a harder time finding a new position.

A well-rounded education also provides you with understanding. Say you are going on a trip to Asia, China to be more specific. You may never have gone to China before, but by studying and educating yourself about this country before you go, you will have a greater understanding of China, and the Chinese, before you even set foot in the country.

"Birds of a feather flock together", or so the saying goes. Have you ever heard the term "networking", in a social setting that is? It basically means meeting people to serve a common goal. Networking often goes hand-in-hand with a good education, as it means you will be able to "flock" with other "birds" who share your goals and ideals. Who knows what jobs might come out of these encounters?

Aren't people with a good education more fun to be around? They seem to have knowledge on almost any subject, and can keep a conversation rolling along. Armed with a good education, if someone happens to bring up an obscure topic at the dinner table, you will be able to join in and give your opinion. Wouldn't it be great to be able to educate others and make new acquaintances and friends in this way? I think so...

In conclusion, these are just a few reasons why we think education is important. On our math comic strips web site we focus primarily on teaching math skills to children via comic books. If you are interested in learning more about this fascinating subject, please visit us on our web site. - 30301

Why Do Our Children Need An Education Anyway?

By Matthew Smith

We have been told year after year that an education is important. Is it really? Do you know why? At our math comic strips web site we deal with this question quite a bit. In this article we will be focusing on why it's important for our children to get a good education.

Knowledge is power, or so the saying goes. When you graduate from school, whether it be elementary, middle, high, college, or university, you are giving yourself power over your future. You have many more options in regards to what type of job you can hold, where you can live, and what $$$ you can make. Some jobs do provide "on the job" training, but most employers won't even consider your application if you don't have the minimum educational requirements.

A good education makes you a more resourceful human being. Nobody is so smart that they know everything about everything, but a good education gives you a foundation of solid principles that you will be able to apply to any situation you might encounter. Let's illustrate with an example. Suppose someone asks you what time it is? Suppose you have forgotten your own personal watch? If you have knowledge on how to tell time, you will be able to utilize this capability with any watch or clock that happens to be around you at the time. Yes, this is a very basic and trivial example, but it illustrated the point quite well.

A great education often means that you and your family can enjoy a better quality of life. People with great educations are often the last to get laid off when the economy turns sour. It's also true that people who lack in education have a harder time finding a new position in this climate as well.

When you have a good education you often have greater understanding. Let's illustrate with an example. Suppose you are going to the Middle East...Egypt to be more specific. Now you may have never been to Egypt before, but by studying up on the pyramids, the Nile, and Cairo, you will have a much deeper understanding of the history, culture and people of this country before you even arrive.

A well-rounded education can provide you with tremendous networking opportunities. Perhaps you have heard of the saying "birds of a feather flock together"? Having a good education means that you will meet more "birds" who "flock around" similar places and jobs. They will know when jobs open, and who you should contact. This will come in handy when you need to get that "foot in the door".

When you are educated you tend to be more fun to be around. Suppose someone brings up a topic at the dinner table that is rather obscure. With a well-rounded education you will be able to jump right in and offer your opinion. If you didn't have this knowledge you would be "like duh". Wouldn't it be great to be able to make new friends and acquaintances in this way?

In conclusion, these are just a few reasons why we think education is important. On our math comic strips web site we focus primarily on teaching math skills to children via comic books. If you are interested in learning more about this fascinating subject, please visit us on our web site. - 30301

Picking A Tutor.

By Christian Bogden

Many people in a large city like Phoenix know that then need a tutor, but don't know how to go about choosing the best one. When trying to improve SAT or ACT scores, grades, or academic skills choosing a tutor is a very important step. There are several factors which are important when selecting a Phoenix tutoring company, including subject expertise, tutoring style, tutoring experience, education level, and proximity.

To find an experienced tutor, your best bet is to consult a tutor's resume. When looking in a small town, you may only have a few tutors to choose from, but when looking for a phoenix tutor, you'll have a much larger pool to choose from. Many websites have tutor profiles which list experience of its tutors. You should also always ask for references. Avoid being seduced by testimonials on a website, as there is no way to verify their authenticity.

Subject expertise is probably the easiest to evaluate, but also less important than one might think. Especially if you're looking for a high school tutor, almost every tutor will have mastered the necessary skills. If you're looking for specific subject expertise, make sure you choose somebody with a highly related college degree. For example, if you're looking for a Phoenix math tutor or a Phoenix science tutor, choose somebody with an engineering education that will have expertise in both areas. If you're looking for a Phoenix English tutor, select an English or Literature major.

A tutor's education is also an important factor to consider. You'll want somebody who has graduated recently from college in your area. Those tutors have empathy and remember the process of learning much better than a seasoned teacher or PhD. Ivy League tutors and those from other top universities are also a good find. They have diverse education, interest, and academic drive. They've also mastered standardized tests, making them excellent Phoenix SAT tutors.

Tutoring style is very hard to measure, but it's also one of the most important skills. Really the only way to do this is to check references and keep in close contact with your tutor after they're hired. Choose somebody who teaches the skills to learn and think about dealing with problems rather than somebody who drills facts. Learning the former will help in academics for the rest of your life.

Of course you'll also want to choose somebody who is convenient. There are a few choices for phoenix in-home tutoring that will come to you. You can find local companies by searching the web for your neighborhood, eg. Mesa Tutor or Scottsdale Tutor. You might also search for Chandler Tutor in the phonebook.

Hopefully now you have the ability to make an informed tutor choice. Everybody's needs are unique, and you're the best person to interpret yours. Remember to review references and carefully consider what level of education is a best fit for your situation. And most of all, if a tutor isn't working out, don't be afraid to seek somebody else. - 30301

The Rule of the Third Explained

By Morten Elm

Well, it is a little complicated. Or it might seem so. We are talking talk about the feared Rule of the Third (also described as the Golden Section). But do not worry. It is not as complicated as many people thinks. If you are able to divide a square in nine equal parts, you will be safe.

Try to turn on your TV. Look for the newsreader at one of the news channels. Is he sitting in the middle of the picture? No, he is placed according to the Rule of the Third in either the left or the right third.

The Rule of the Third is not a new invention. Many years ago painters found out, that their paintings would be more balanced, if the main subject was placed one third or two thirds from the left and/or the bottom.

Actually one third is not the absolutely correct place to place the main subject. There is a very complex mathematically rule that describes the Golden Section. But as long as you are not showing your pictures to mathematicians, it is just fine to use one third as a rule.

So learn from the painters and place your subject in the third parts of the photography. It can be either vertically or horizontal; or both.

It is really important to use the Rule of the Third when photographing the horizon. In many photos the horizon is placed in the middle of the picture. That gives an unbalanced photo, because it is divided into two parts.

Instead look at the frame. What is most interesting; the sky or the ground? If there are beautiful clouds in the sky, then this part should fill up two thirds of the picture. Are the subjects on the ground more interesting they should fill up the largest part.

Some cameras cannot figure out the make the subject sharp, if it is not in the middle. If that is the case, you should just place the subject in the middle of the frame, only press down the release half and the turn the camera subsequently. This way the camera knows that your subject is.

Like all other photographic rules it is okay to break the Rule of the Thirds; as long as you do it on purpose and knows what you are doing. - 30301

Homeschooling and the Family

By Colin Jones

According to the National Center For Education Statistics, roughly 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That's a lot of children. Once upon a time, homeschooling used to be an extreme statement - something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who advocated homeschooling in the '80s and legalized it in every State. But the typical homeschooler of today is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys show that parents are quite fed up with the public school system where much of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, which ranges from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

Because of this, we have a surprising mix of people who make up the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their main aim is providing meaningful and productive learning through a method that strengthens the bond between all the members of the family.

All these families have one main thing in common - a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children of these families are given a primary position. Many believe, and, I think, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their children in a more natural and caring environment.

Public schools can make a child nervous, diffident and downright mean. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can deal with them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the almost religious job of teaching. Everyone is put to work. Both the parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an educational experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going into their child's education.

Parents also have a greater control over the type of religious and moral values that the child is learning. Even watching a film together can become a learning experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is primarily dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often spending has to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody gets involved in the process of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to supervise, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there just is no room for boredom.

Yes, problems still do crop up, and there will be a lot of misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your kids can always count on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience. - 30301

In majority of the cases, the pupils who would like to master the topic, end up losing though they brim with the enthusiasm because they are deficient in proper counseling. Because of this many raring mathematicians are lost. Parents can stabilize their kids development in algebra by just going for an algebra tutor.

It is not correct to believe that learner fail in it deliberately. They are clueless about the concept and don't get proper guidance. This complication can be tackled with the help of algebra tutors.

Similar to all fields having several well-trained people in them, algebra too has hundreds of thousands of experts who know everything about it.

Often one remains silent when some query on algebra is asked to him in class. Some pupils keep mum if they are not aware of the answer. The aid of a tutor makes a person develop his aptitude and gives him the confidence needed to answer even the most difficult of all queries.

Many children have to experience many harrowing moments in class in front of their mates as a result of this. Now they can be confident that they they can master the subject if they obtain the help of an algebra tutor.

The private tutor gives account of many real life examples of algebra and converts the sessions more interesting. expert tutors are able to knowing the grasping capacity of the individual and revise their way of teaching accordingly.

Be aware that algebra is the foundation for all other scientific research, hence it is highly important for one to know the rudiments along with the highest principles right. Arrange for an algebra tutor and attain your aspirations. - 30301

Vedic Maths Tricks Make Math Easier

By Trevor Johnson

Vedic math tricks are a great way to overcome challenges with math. Using these techniques will help when you have hard math assignments you cannot understand. This is because the vedic maths tricks are very easy to memorize. This is some of the important things to get you started with vedic maths objectives.

Vedic maths was created to aid everyone struggling with math, or even just needing a little extra assistance. Vedic math employs distinct mathematical procedures that are based on historical influences of Hinduism. Each of these aspects in the vedics math can also be found in a number of books and websites.

Vedic maths has historical roots from BCE, developed in Indian texts more than a thousand years old. This heritage is almost the same as Hinduism, and even uses many of the basic ideals of the culture and religion. The principles in vedic maths are established from the sutras that match that of Hinduism. Central values of the vedic maths can be located in almost every extended math field.

To increase the ability you have for math, the 16 sutras are easy to memorize, creating the quick memory for formulas found in math. A number of the sutras involve statements such as sayings that increase the number by one, which is the sutra that is named Ekadhikina Purvena. All of the sutras are helpful for assessing sum, division, or other computations.

Utilizing the sutras improves how rapidly you finish math problems. This is because they require less effort and less information than other methods. You will be able to commit to memory how to finish a math equation and the solution is much easier to accomplish.

Math is difficult for a lot of people, even me. We can use the vedic maths tricks will help learn math and quickly succeed at math. It just requires a little memorization of 16 sutras, which provide the clues to solving the equations of any math problem. Some schools are making use of the vedic maths tricks can help students, even in course such as geometry, trig, and algebra. - 30301

Use the Rule of the Third Correctly

By Morten Elm

It might seem a little bit complicated. But actually the Rule of the Third (also named the Golden Section) is pretty simple to use, if you just know how to divide a square into nine equal parts.

If you are looking for a simple, real life example of the Rule of the Third, you can find a news channel on your TV. Look where the newsreader is sitting; either in the right or the left third. It is a classic example of the Rule of the Third.

The Rule of the Third is not a new invention. Many years ago painters found out, that their paintings would be more balanced, if the main subject was placed one third or two thirds from the left and/or the bottom.

To be absolutely correct the right place to put the main subject is not exactly one third (or two third) from the border. There is a complicated mathematically rule that describes the exact place. But it is so close to one third that is fine enough for practically use. So as long as you are not showing your pictures to a mathematician, you will be fine.

So when you are photographing, try to place your subjects in the third parts of the picture; if possible both vertically and horizontal.

This is especially important when you are photographing subject that includes the horizon. A typical mistake is to place it in the middle of the picture, but the only thing that does, is to divide the photo in two; and that is not normally what you want.

So what is the most interesting part; the above the horizon or the one below? Is the sky full of beautiful clouds or is it gray and boring? Place the most interesting part of the subject according to the Rule of the Third.

On some cameras the subject has to be in the middle to make it sharp. In this case you shall just place the subject in the middle of the frame, press the releaser half down and then turn the camera so it points to the subject. Then press the releaser completely down.

It is okay to break the Rule of the Thirds (like all other photographic rules). But you shall know why you are doing it and therefore only do it on purpose. - 30301

Learning History at Home Schooling

By Marion Jones

Do you think that spending time in traditional classrooms is a waste of time? For some people, that is probably true. For instance, a test is due and the students are asked to memorize a lot of dates and names. However, after taking the exam, they will definitely forget 90% of those dates and names. That's what the majority of students do every time they have tests. If you are one of these people, you will find traditional history lessons boring, so home schooling, which focuses more on the history of the world, will probably interest you more.

Just simple memorization is not enough to know the significance of historical, famous people and fateful events. Through home schooling in history, you can study the different cultures of the past in a unique, but interesting way - that is your own way! Through the study of history, you will also understand the current situation of the world.

However, if you consider that home schooling is the best option for your child's learning, you must also be prepared to undertake certain responsibilities. As there will be no teacher present 'on site', you will have to oversee your child's learning progress by yourself.

Let's just suppose that your child is interested in a particular sport. Through combining history and home schooling, you could start by simply putting a map on the wall of your child's schoolroom and mark the location of his favourite sports team. Make sure that you track all the team's activities and schedules. Then, you could return to history lessons by reading biographies of the different athletes, who had been popular in the particular sport that your child follows. Aside from that, you could also look into the history of that specific sport and discover where it originated, its inventor, and the other things happening at that particular time in history.

For example, let's say your child loves baseball, you can teach your child about the history baseball, government hearings on the use of steroids and other favourite sports at that period in time. But remember that you can apply this concept to any interest such as dancing, flight, cars or any invention. You can also have conversations with your child about current events or read interesting historical documents and other books. Aside from that, you can also watch documentaries together with the rest of the family. There are various resources that your child can use in home schooling, like TV, maps, newspapers, books, a globe, an atlas, and encyclopedias. Due of the exciting adventures that you and your child will read about and see on film, he/she will find it easier to remember the names and dates of the history lessons. After all, education is best when it is done in an interesting way.

These methods are recommended for when the child is still young, but when your child is older, you must choose a home schooling program that is suited to his/her particular age group. The programs are pitched at the elementary, high school, and even college levels. You simply have to search the Internet for these various programs. One advantage of these programs is that you can adapt them to fit the needs of your child. However, you must see to it that all the lessons are followed by your child.

Once you and your child have decided to go for home schooling, you must be prepared for some changes to take place in your life. The learning environment will now be your home not a school and through the various resources that you can use including the computer and Internet. - 30301

How To Do Vedic Math To Make Math Easier

By Trevor Johnson

There are sixteen principles or formulas known as Sultra in the processes of Vedic math which found its origins in India. How to do Vedic math is about applying simple patterns to solve math problems even in your mind. The method is a system using 'vertically and crosswise' for problem solving.

Doing math problems is the downfall of a great many individuals especially when it comes to fractions. The beginning concepts of the vedic math system will be explained briefly here. This is about working across the numbers and working the numbers vertically.

To begin here is a basic method that makes subtracting any numbers from 100, 1000, 10, 000, 100, 000 and so on extremely simple to do in your head and almost impossible to make a mistake. This formula is simply to subtract all the numbers from 9 and the last from 10.

To make it a little clearer: 1000 - 888 = you will first take 8 from 9 which is 1, 8 from 9 which is 1 and then 8 from 10 which is 2 so theresult is 112. 1000 - 274 = you take 9 minus each number and the last number use 10. 9 - 2 = 7, 9 - 7 = 2, 10 - 4 = 6 so the result is 726.

When you want to use vedic methods to multiply you will be using the 'vertically and crosswire' technique doing a crisscross pattern. With vedic there will not be a need to learn the multiplication tables any further than fives. Doing the multiplication you will use the crisscross pattern and then vertical multiplication of the simple answers. The base number is ten. For the first position of the answer you will need to use the numbers away from 10 then the answers are subtracted from the numbers being multiplied. That is the number in the first position of the answer and then multiply the numbers away from 10 from both the numbers being multiplied and that is the second position of your answer. Example: 8 x 7 = would be 10 - 8 = 2 using the 8 and 2. Then 10 - 7 = 3 using the 7 and 3. Then crisscross: 8 - 3 = 5 or 7 - 2 = 5 so the first number is 5. Now vertically: 2 x 3 = 6 then the second number is 6. The answer is 56.

Just two little samples of how Vedic math works. It is about learning the formulas and practicing the techniques. - 30301

Don't Be A Bad Math's Joke, Get GCSE Maths Help

By Luke Redding

Have you heard the one about the teacher and the student, she asked him, "what is 7 x 6?" he replies "42!" "Great" she says "well done!" "Now what's 6 x 7", "I know" he says, "it's 24". That is a bad math's joke and if you want to avoid becoming one yourself, you may just need to get GCSE math's help.

In the last decade in the UK girls marks have been surpassing those of boys in GCSE math's exams. But now the education department is set to drop coursework and as this is apparently the reason for the better marks, things are expected to change. Where coursework has already been dropped, boys are already doing substantially better than girls in mathematics exams.

Apparently by next year all coursework will be scrapped, and girls you are going to have to look out, because in the past this was your one dividing strong point. Because of this action we are already seeing record breaking results according to the Guardian, and fewer girls than in the past decade are getting less of the top marks. This change may be the reason why you need GCSE mathematics help, girls.

Controlled assessment is taking the place of coursework, and the reason that coursework distinguishes the girls from the boys is because of the soft skills required by coursework. They are much better at these. These changes are expected to make a significant impact on the math's gender gap. Controlled assessment is undertaken in an exam-like setting, and it is thought that the chances for plagiarism will be curtailed.

Since 1997, this is the first year that boys have done better than girls in GCSE maths. The removal of coursework has been directly attributed to this as marks are also given for soft skills. Soft skills entail planning as well as sticking to deadlines, and girls are better at this.

If you need math's help to see you through your GCSE's you will find plenty of this available online. If you need help with any other subject, you will also find this. Your course needs to concentrate on 6th form revision and homework. Makes sure the tutorials and articles are easily understood. They must cover all the problems you expect to encounter, and assist you fully in the learning process.

Not that we are saying that girls need more help than boys, there must be plenty of boys out there who still need GCSE math's help.

The sections in your tutorials should cover specific mathematics based problems. It needs to be specific so that you can refer back to them for revision or help if you become unstuck

The course should be flexible and allow you to ask as many questions as you need to get a full understanding of the problem at hand, and should also contain practice exam questions.

No one is ever alone and for hundreds if not thousands of years, the real math's experts are only created when they receive extra tuition. One-on one tuition for math's has long been recognized as being the one deciding factor in making or breaking a mathematician. - 30301

Home Schooling and Young Children

By Marion Jones

In recent years, home schooling has become very popular especially with the middle and upper-middle class families. There have been many arguments before about home schooling. Experts claim that there are advantages as well as disadvantages in home schooling but it seems that the former outweigh the latter and so, a lot of families are now choosing home schooling over the traditional schools.

Cultures vary and somehow the relations within the family are affected too. In some cultures, family ties are quite strong, but there are also those who don't have very good relationships with other family members. However, through home schooling, family ties and relationships are enhanced. Parents will spend enough time with their kids because of the home schooling program and the children will have to listen to their parents too. Communication is much improved and both parties will learn about the importance of speaking and listening.

Many families prefer home schooling because of its flexibility. Since the cost of home education is a bit more than normal schools, the financial situation of the household is very important. However, without thinking about money, many parents will still go for home schooling, because it can ensure their children's safety. Public schools often have dangerous environments that can affect kids terribly, but if they are in a home schooling program, they can stay away from these predicaments and their parents will be there to guide them.

Instead of placing the kids at a public school, many parents prefer home schooling because the educational environment in the public schools is not that conducive. In public schools, very young pupils can experience problems that can affect them socially, mentally, and academically for a long time. Pedagogues who have conducted studies, claim that children learn better in a safe environment surrounded by loved ones. A further advantage of home schooling is that children can learn according to their capacity. You can't just give a new lesson, if the previous one hasn't been learned yet. It may take longer, but the results are better.

As mentioned earlier, home schooling is a bit more expensive. If you think that you might be able to reduce the educational expenses of your child, you're wrong. Home schooling expenses are just about the same as those of traditional schools. However, if you join in the forums of the parents of home-schoolers, you will discover that there are ways to reduce costs. Naturally, you will have to spend on the resource materials, computer, and internet, but you can also use outside resources like cultural events, public libraries and many others.

You will get even more cost-cutting ideas, if you get in touch with other parents. The Internet provides numerable possibilities and with a bit of research and homework, you can surely come up with a way to reduce the costs. If you don't want to hire tutors, then you will have to learn the lessons as well. You have already learned the various subjects in your kids' educational program, so you only need to review them. You can get further educational material online or the bookshop and later on, teach your kids.

Therefore, it is plain to see, that home schooling is by far the best option, especially if your child is still quite young. It all depends on you and your kid, whether they continue this form of education until they graduate for college. - 30301

Sharpening Your Mind With Maths Revision

By Luke Redding

Very many people around the world have problems when it comes to solving maths. It is not one of those subjects that just come easy to an individual. It takes years of getting used to before one can say that they truly are mathematicians. I for one know I can never dare to say that because it has been years since I picked up a maths book and did an equation. Can Lack of maths revision weaken your maths skills?

Now I do not think that you do not know what maths revision is but I will explain just in case I am mistaken. Revision simply means to go and study over again. Maths revision will therefore be going and studying over again the things in maths that you have already been taught. If you had just learnt addition then in your maths revision you will be doing many additional sums until you get the hung of it.

The biggest need for maths revision is to enable us to deal with all the varied maths problems that life will undoubtedly throw our way. It is almost impossible today to go through life without any mathematical skills. You will need them for making money at your job to spending this money that you earn. These skills can only be honed by consistent math revision exercises that are infinite in number. You see that there is already a maths problem thrown your way.

Why is so much maths revision a part of being a good mathematician? Well, maths is not like any other subject that you can think of. Once you are taught the meaning of an English word and its context you do not have to revise it constantly. With maths every new principle on the other hand has to be re-done and re-done until it becomes one with your brain.

With the aid of maths revision comes even yet another advantage. You see what sets all of us apart in this world is how we do things. It is no longer just a matter of knowing how to do them. For example we may all be able to get a sum right but in an examination we are under time pressure. Those who are able to do the most in the allocated time have the upper hand. Maths revision will help you raise your problem solving speeds to get this upper hand.

If you want the best results out of your maths revision exercises then you are better off not doing it alone. Doing revision alone can have you trying to figure out one small equation by yourself for two days. With the help of a friend you may learn how to do it in five minutes and move on to the next one.

There are plenty of materials available to help you with your maths revision nowadays. If one has the given advantage of internet access then it is even easier. There are many websites dedicated to helping people with maths revision. Some will have tutors and study groups that will be just as eager as you about maths revision. It should be fully taken advantage of.

So to save you a lot of unnecessary troubles in the future do your maths revision exercises. They will help you become a proper mathematician no matter into what field of life you will find yourself going into. - 30301
